We install VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) and VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems for commercial properties that need precise temperature control across multiple zones. These systems use refrigerant piping instead of bulky ductwork, allowing different areas of your building to heat or cool simultaneously based on individual requirements.

These systems work by:

  • One outdoor unit connects to multiple indoor units via slim refrigerant pipes
  • Each zone controls its own temperature independently
  • The system adjusts refrigerant flow based on actual demand in each area
  • Can heat one zone while cooling another at the same time
  • More energy efficient than traditional systems because it only uses the capacity needed

This technology suits hotels, large office buildings, mixed-use facilities, and any commercial property where different areas have varying climate-control needs throughout the day. The slim piping routes through tight spaces where traditional ductwork won’t fit, and the zoned approach means you’re not heating or cooling areas that don’t need it.

We install VRV/VRF systems across Sydney and regional NSW for businesses that want precise climate control with lower energy costs. The initial investment is higher, but ongoing efficiency savings make up the difference.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What's the difference between VRV and VRF?

Answer

VRV is Daikin’s trademarked term, VRF is what everyone else calls the same technology. Both work the same way with variable refrigerant flow to multiple indoor units.

How much more efficient are VRV/VRF systems compared to traditional HVAC?

Answer

Typically 30-50% more efficient because the system only uses the capacity actually needed. If three zones need cooling and two don’t, you’re only paying to condition those three zones, not the entire building.

Can I add more indoor units to an existing VRV/VRF system?

Answer

Usually, yes, as long as your outdoor unit has capacity to spare. We assess your current system’s capacity and confirm whether it can handle additional zones before quoting any expansion work.

Why would I heat and cool different zones at the same time?

Answer

Server rooms generate heat year-round and need cooling even in winter. South-facing offices might need heating, while north-facing rooms with afternoon sun need cooling. VRV/VRF handles these situations without running separate systems.

How long does a VRV/VRF system last?

Answer

The systems can last 15-20 years with proper maintenance. The variable speed compressors actually experience less wear than traditional on/off systems because they’re not constantly cycling at full capacity.

Are VRV/VRF systems harder to service than traditional HVAC?

Answer

They’re more complex, so you need technicians who know what they’re doing. We service all major VRV/VRF brands and have the diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot these systems properly.
